Project overview

RESPLENDENCE: Restore the Fallen Kingdom is a 2D visual novel RPG that sees you, the player, being crowned King in a ceremony that takes place moments after the passing of your father, King Rajis III of the Kingdom of Concordia.Your father tried to stop the invasion from the neighbouring Clandestin Empire, ruled by a new Empress, who's craving ultimate power. She has completely disregarded the armistice that was signed 27 years ago by all nations - yet all the other nations didn't defend King Rajis when he needed them most.​You have no choice but to surrender your Kingdom, escape, and find allies from across the realm to help fight to restore your fallen kingdom to resplendence.

My Responsibilities

As Project Lead

  • Manage my team by assigning tasks using JIRA.
  • Assigning story points to track progress by individuals.
  • Using an Agile game development process - I aim to complete the development of the game in 'Acts'.
  • Using the SCRUM process to use sprints to complete goals.
  • Creating a roadmap to encourage the team to stick to the timeline.
  • Organising and chairing team meetings and ensuring the team is progressing in their work.
  • Creating and organising a Slack workspace for team members to communicate.
  • Managing and organising the GitHub Repo.

As Lead Writer & Designer

  • Produce flowcharts that illustrated the story's main plot points and endings for each Act of the game.
  • Create a high concept document that provides team members with my vision for the project.
  • Using MS Word to write for dialogue for the game - organising the document in a clear and concise way for other team members to be able to read and understand.
  • Lead on the design and implementation of the UI within the game, ensuring the UI fits exactly to the theme.
  • Utilising the Fungus plugin on Unity, which helped in implementing dialogue into the game.
