The Village

The village is close to the The Entity’s implant event and The Bypass - a physical portal to The Pathway, accidentally created 25 years ago. Possessed Townfolk still remain in the village, with their minds warped and their hearts shattered. They roam aimlessly, devoid of human life, suffering with pain and anguish.

The village suffered greatly over time after The Entity and The Pathway converged here. Local authorities dismissed claims from Townfolk of supernatural sightings, anomalies and dangerous attacks that have been observed and witnessed.

The local press took advantage of the situation and printed fake sightings and attacks, further delegitimising claims. It had gotten to the point that residents were drawn to recluse because of the constant dismissal from others.

Local residents demanded from local authorities and national government to govern as they pleased, and that wish was expressly given. By that point, everyone had given up on the town.

Over many years, with hardly any visitors, and effectively being wiped from the map, the village turned from what once was a small bustling area to a desolate and depraved wasteland.

The Forest.

The Forest

The route to the hospital from the village is blocked. The only other way to reach it is through the forest. A cold, desolate area where light is scarce, shadows are abundant, and sound is unsettling. Paths are winding, the flora is drained of colour, the monsters are encircling.

The Pathway’s influence can be felt, its thick fog engulfing, its power is strangling whatever life remains. Traverse with extreme caution.

Though caution can be advised, it's best to never enter. The forest itself has a mind of its own. Or a heart. Funny that. Either way, its purpose is to swallow any who enter whole and to suffocate wanderers and adventurers alike.

There's signs that other people have been here before, perhaps supernatural enthusiasts and private investigators, determined to figure out the root cause of what happened in the hospital.

Of course, they were forced to traverse the forest to find an entrance, but it's unclear whether many even made it to the hospital.

Not every path leads somewhere. There's no clear route. There's no map for guidance. But there will be clues to help for navigation.

The Hospital

The origin of The Entity’s implant event. The birthplace of the player-character. The location of The Bypass. It all started here, it all culminates here. The Pathway lurks inside, unable to close The Bypass, but capable of utilising it.

The hospital quickly shut shortly after the implant event 25 years ago due to patients and hospital staff dying of an unexplained illness. An investigation was launched by the Government to determine what attributed to the deaths and whether there had been an outbreak.

Even with best equipment and personnel available, and with health and safety observed, the government health agency, biohazard experts and other healthcare officials died too. The government were not willing to pour more money into the investigation, and from fear of information leaking out, they immediately shut down the area.

They informed local authorities to refrain from telling locals of what truly happened, and instead, instructed them to never visit the area. The road to the hospital was blocked and entry is near impossible. But when has that stopped anyone?
