A Psychological Survival-Horror Prototype scoped for development on Unreal Engine 5 and inspired by the story and gameplay of the Alan Wake series.

Game development time for this project is expected to exceed at least one year and therefore will release in 2025 or later. There'll be a laser-like focus on establishing an engaging gameplay loop with novel game mechanics.

Expectations, Scope and Depth of the Project, Explained

This video game is a prototype in scope. This means that the focus is on demonstrating an idea or a concept. It is not expected to be (highly) polished, nor fully-functional. The scope for this project is limited because of the nature of it being a prototype and therefore the purpose will be to do the best I can to get across my vision for this game, were it to be a fully developed title.

The Story

So far, the game's premise focuses on a person who is suffering from the effects of psychosis, but it goes so much deeper than that.

There will be a narrative-driven plot point explored within the prototype and this will be the driving factor behind the player-character's motivations.

Gameplay Mechanics

As a first-person survival-horror, there may be combat mechanics, akin to the Alan Wake series with a flashlight than the Resident Evil series with guns.

Environmental game mechanics will feature in some capacity, as they will be story-dependent. At least one puzzle will be included.

Platforms of Choice

If the prototype is polished satisfactorily, the gameplay is fluid, fun and compelling and there's scope, budget and no restrictions to port to multiple platforms, expect this game prototype to release on them.

At the very least, the game will release on PC.
